"Let us" . . .

The sermon at church yesterday was centered on the idea that we must "put it all on the line" for the .
cause of Christ; that there is no room for casual Christianity in today's world

There are so many examples of those who were all in for God in the Bible, no matter the cost.  Our pastor challenged us to be like minded.  Afterall, in eternity we will be contemporaries of those same heroes of the faith.

Where does one begin such a journey?  The pastor suggested the following text:

[Heb 10:22-24 ESV]

  •  let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
  •  Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.
  •  let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works
We accept the gift of salvation, we follow Jesus' example and we inspire others to do the same.

This reminds me of the Christian classic, "In His Steps" by Charles M. Sheldon.  (you may read it here:  gutenberg.org )  Considered by many to be the origin of "WWJD" movement a few years ago.  The book follows a group of Christians who commit to follow Jesus no matter the cost to them.

This is a struggle every generation and every individual must decide how this will look like in their lives.

As for me, the all out pursuit of Christ is my only goal in 2017.
