Webster's 1828 dictionary defines the word as:
THANKS, n. generally in the plural. Expression of gratitude; an acknowledgment made to express a sense of favor or kindness received. Gratitude is the feeling or sentiment excited by kindness; thanks are the expression of that sentiment.
In the Old Testament, the word typically used for thanks is the Hebrew word: yadah which means to give thanks, to laud, to give praise or to confess the name of God.
In the New Testament, the Greek word typically used is eucharisteo which means to be grateful, i.e. (actively) to express gratitude (towards); specially, to say grace at a meal. Another word that is used is charis which means graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude):—acceptable, benefit, favour, gift, grace(- ious), joy, liberality, pleasure, thank(-s, -worthy).
So, I would love it if you would join me. We can encourage each other to be full of thanks as well as help each other to see our blessings.
