[Luk 1:46-55 KJV] 46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, 47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. 48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. 49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy [is] his name. 50 And his mercy [is] on them that fear him from generation to generation. 51 He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He hath put down the mighty from [their] seats, and exalted them of low degree. 53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. 54 He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of [his] mercy; 55 As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.
This was the scripture I read yesterday before all the merriment of our family Christmas celebration. A simple, but godly young woman's prayer praising God.
Does your soul magnify the Lord?
Does your spirit rejoice in God your Saviour? The thing that makes this most remarkable, her Saviour was being "knit" together in her womb when she uttered this prayer.
God blessed her with a great mission, though the world probably looked at her and saw nothing extraordinary. And her prophecy was correct. All generations do call her blessed.
God noticed her as an individual, just as He does each of us.
Want to start a new family legacy, fear Him yourself and teach others in your family to do so as well and you will experience His great mercy.
God is a humbler of the proud but He does this for our own good. Sometimes our self-perception gets out of whack and we need the reminder that He is greater than we His created.
The humble are often satisfied and happy while the rich, if not focused on God, are unhappy and unfufilled. You can only be your own God for so long before you are disgusted with yourself and the lie you are living.
Israel will always be a recipient of His mercy because He has a covenant with them.
