Who is God? Who does God say that He is? I thought it might be a good thing to take a look at this. So we will start in Genesis. In chapters 1-26, there are 3 "I am" statements by God:
1 After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I [am] thy shield, [and] thy exceeding great reward. ... 7 And he said unto him, I [am] the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it. [Gen 15:1, 7 KJV]
1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I [am] the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. [Gen 17:1 KJV]
24 And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I [am] the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I [am] with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake. [Gen 26:24 KJV]
God is a shield. A protector.
God is a great reward. A treasure that is priceless.
God brings us out of situations. He knows what is best for His followers.
God is El Shaddai. He is a God like no other god.
God is a personal and relational God with individuals.
