Monday Meditation

The world is going to end today according to a Christian numerologist.  Not that I place any confidence in man.  God can choose to do what He has decreed for a certain day or hour.  But it set my mind to thinking there are so many Christians who do not know, what is said about the end times in Scripture.  I thought I might go through some of the scriptures to review for my own studies and thought you might like to join me.  I'm not saying, I'm any kind of expert, I'm a follower (disciple) of Jesus and He had some things to say on the subject:

3 As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?" 4 And Jesus answered them, "See that no one leads you astray. 5 For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and they will lead many astray. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. [Mat 24:3-8 ESV]

Jesus sits on the Mount of Olives, the place from where He ascended into heaven and to where He will return at the 2nd coming. [Acts 1:9-11]

The disciples (which means followers) approached Him and asked 3 questions:
  1. when will these things be
  2. what will be the sign of your coming
  3. what will be the sign of the end of the age
Jesus answers that there will be many false Christs who lead many astray and there will be wars and rumors of wars.

But the disciples are not to be alarmed.  These events have to take place.  These things will be horrible, but the end is not yet.

The beginning of birth pains align with some of the seal judgments:
  1. nation vs nation; kingdom vs kingdom (Rev 6:4)
  2. famines (Rev 6:5-6)
  3. earthquakes (Rev 6:12)
{to be continued...}
