[Mat 24:24 ESV] 24 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.
There are those who are persuaded to be something that they are not. As we get closer to the time of Jesus' return to earth, this increase in falseness will grow. Even those of us who belong to Him will need to be careful.
[Mat 26:59-60 ESV] 59 Now the chief priests and the whole council were seeking false testimony against Jesus that they might put him to death, 60 but they found none, though many false witnesses came forward. At last two came forward
Remember, Christ was tried for blasphemy based on the testimony of false witnesses. As we have seen recently, sometimes an accusation is all that it takes for some to condemn you. Once one accusation takes hold, several more usually follow.
We should take great care to not put forth false statements from our mouths because they reveal the true condition of our heart.
