Word Study Wednesday

[Isa 9:6 KJV] 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Continuing on with our verse for this month...this week's word is Counsellor.  This word comes from the Hebrew word yâʻats, yaw-ats'; a primitive root; to advise; reflexively, to deliberate or resolve:—advertise, take advise, advise (well), consult, (give, take) counsel(-lor), determine, devise, guide, purpose.

Some other verses in the Bible that use the same word are:

[Exo 18:19 KJV] 19 Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel,[H3289] and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:

[Psa 32:8 KJV] 8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide[H3289] thee with mine eye.

[Pro 13:10 KJV] 10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised[H3289] [is] wisdom.

[Isa 14:24 KJV] 24 The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed,[H3289] [so] shall it stand:

Our God counsels, advises and purposes.  We would do well to rely upon our Counselor.
