Word Study Wednesday

[Isa 9:6 KJV] 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Continuing on with our verse for this month...this week's word is The mighty God.

The word used for mighty is the Hebrew word:  גִּבּוֹר gibbôwr, ghib-bore'; or גִּבֹּר gibbôr; (shortened) intensive from the same as H1397; powerful; by implication, warrior, tyrant:—champion, chief, × excel, giant, man, mighty (man, one), strong (man), valiant man.

Some other verses that use this word in the Bible:

[Deu 10:17 KJV] 17 For the LORD your God [is] God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty,[H1368] and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:

[Psa 24:8 KJV] 8 Who [is] this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty,[H1368] the LORD mighty[H1368] in battle.

[Isa 10:21 KJV] 21 The remnant shall return, [even] the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty[H1368] God.

The word used for God is the Hebrew word:  אֵל ʼêl, ale; shortened from H352; strength; as adjective, mighty; especially the Almighty (but used also of any deity):—God (god), × goodly, × great, idol, might(-y one), power, strong. Compare names in '-el.'

Some other verses that use this word in the Bible:

[Gen 14:18 KJV] 18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he [was] the priest of the most high God.[H410]

[Exo 15:2 KJV] 2 The LORD [is] my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he [is] my God,[H410] and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.

[Deu 3:24 KJV] 24 O Lord GOD, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand: for what God[H410] [is there] in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might?

The mighty God is like no other so-called god.  He is the One, True God!!!
