For Real Fridays

I guess this week's event that I was disappointed in was what I saw during the SOTU address by President Trump.

First, I understand the President isn't everyone's cup of tea.  His behavior sometimes is brash and boorish and occasionally outrageous.  His speech is provocative most days.  But that comes with being a leader.  Everyone is going to criticize you and take potshots at you and your decisions and every little thing that you do.

But here is what I've observed since he's been in office.  He speaks for the unborn as he did during his speech calling out the other party's bent and desire for infanticide.  He speaks out for the rights of Christians as he did at the National Prayer breakfast.  Is he a Christian personally?  I'm not sure but is he surrounded by Christian people?  He is.  Is he sympathetic to Christian beliefs?  He is because Christian beliefs are what we used to call traditional values.  In my opinion, he is what is standing between us and our country's leaving behind all that we have stood for since our founding.

Here is what the other party did not stand for the other night:

  • record lows in unemployment for everyone
  • vow that America would never be a "socialist" nation
  • a plea for a border wall that would protect our country's citizens
  • a plea for a bill restricting abortion up until birth
To me this is very telling.  To me these are things all common sense people should be for.  Now if you believe differently, I do not see you as an enemy.  I respect you have the right to have your beliefs.  Just please respect that I have the same right to mine.
