Wisdom Wednesday

[Ecc 1:12-15 KJV] 12 I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem.

Here the king clarifies his role as he sees it...a preacher and a king.  Not all preachers are kings and not all kings are preachers.  But like his father, Solomon saw the value of a relationship with the Lord and like all of us he tends to forget this.

13 And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all [things] that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.

We witness his philosophical side to pursue wisdom.  Wisdom is a worthwhile pursuit for any of us but especially a king who has responsibility for others....or a parent....or a teacher.

14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all [is] vanity and vexation of spirit.

As a king, he has seen it all and he is not impressed.  All pursuits seem to be unworthy or a pain in the tuckus!

15 [That which is] crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.

Basically, you can't change anything and you will never be content.  Bummer man...he delivers!
