Friday Focus

I feel God gave me a respite this week.  He knows that my schedule from here to April gets a little crazy with tax season.  So I got extra time to be in His Word this week and for that I'm grateful:

  • for bible study class which meets next Thursday, I'm studying Genesis 11-15.  The genealogies, the tower of Babel, taking us from Noah to Abraham.  Absolutely fascinating...can't wait to meet them someday.
  • for bible studies with friends:  Daniel 1 & 2 and 1 Peter, chapters 1-3.  Love the dream and how it was revealed to Daniel.  It was history announced in advance to a foreign king.  And of all the disciples, I identify with Peter the most.  When he walked with Christ here on earth, he made mistakes and acted impulsively.  But when I read his epistles, you can see how he matured and grew in his relationship with Christ.  This gives me hope.
  • the chronological study has be in Exodus.  I need to be a little more diligent on this one...I only was able to do it a couple of days this week.  I want to hit all 7 days next week.
My annual discipline is down to two things and they both involve eating!  This is my area of least self-control so it really bugs me and I want to bring it under submission to God.  So my two choices are to eat a plant based diet for 6 weeks (like Adam and Eve) or employ fasting to make more time for prayer and bible study or a combination of the two.  I have until February 25th to decide.

What I'm particularly concerned about this week and lifting up in prayer:  All the lives lost to coronavirus, the troops who have suffered traumatic brain injuries and how their lives will change, election year craziness, church family going through some tough stuff and as always my moms and my children...you know sandwich stuff between the generations.

A book I read this week:  Beyond Betrayal by Phil Waldrep.  Very helpful suggestions to forgiving someone who has wounded you.

I would love to hear about your faith journey this week.
