Say What Wednesday

I guess you had to be tough woman during the time of the judges.  The Israelites and the Canaanites were engaged in battle.  The Kenites  (descendants of Moses father in law) were nearby neighbors.  God had delivered the Canaanites into Israel's hands but the Canaanite general, Sisera had fled on foot.  He decided to seek refuge in the Kenite camp as his king wasn't in conflict with them.  He was invited in to the tent of Heber and Jael.  Jael was a wonderful hostess.  Are you thirsty?  Have some milk.  Are you tired?  Lay down here.  Are you cold?  Here is a blanket.  She let the tired general sleep.

And then she killed Sisera by driving a tent peg through his head!

She waited until Barak, the Israelite general came by and said to him, "here is the man you are searching for."  Later, Deborah and Barak sing about Jael and say:

[Jdg 5:24-26 ESV] 24 "Most blessed of women be Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, of tent-dwelling women most blessed. 25 He asked for water and she gave him milk; she brought him curds in a noble's bowl. 26 She sent her hand to the tent peg and her right hand to the workmen's mallet; she struck Sisera; she crushed his head; she shattered and pierced his temple.

Then Israel had peace for 40 years.  Take what lesson you can from her example.
