- love of (insert your favorite food)
- love of (insert your favorite television show)
- love of (insert your dream car)
- love of (insert your friends and family)
and we could make a list of a thousand things like this. We toss the word "love" around nonchalantly applying it to objects and people so much it has become a meaningless verb. But there is a better and more satisfying and ultimate love between God and his people:
[Deu 7:9 ESV] 9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,
FAITHFUL, COVENANT AND STEADFAST
[Jos 22:5 ESV] 5 Only be very careful to observe the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and to cling to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul."
OBSERVE, LOVE, WALK, KEEP, CLING, SERVE
[Mat 5:43-44, 46 ESV] 43 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, ... 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?
LOVE SHOULD TAKE PURPOSEFUL EFFORT
[Luk 10:27 ESV] 27 And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself."
LOVE HIM WITH EVERYTHING YOU HAVE AND ARE AND SHOW HIS LOVE TO OTHERS
