Monday meditation

[1Pe 5:8-10 ESV] 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

Last week, I spent every day in 1 Peter 5 and the above verses stood out to me.

  • the devil does want to bring you low and make you feel like the life of faith isn't worth the effort
  • we must RESIST him and live our lives in Jesus' victory.  My struggles are annoyances, nothing like those around the world whose practice of faith can earn them death.  So let's keep the perspective that everyone has suffering to some degree but it gains us a brotherhood (sisterhood for any feminists) with our fellow believers and our Lord Jesus.
  • God, himself will RESTORE, CONFIRM, STRENGTHEN and ESTABLISH you!  That should give you lots of hope and make you smile.
