Thinking Thursday

Paul gives us more guidance on the end times in 1st Thessalonians, Chapter 5:

[1Th 5:1 KJV] But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

You will know.

[1Th 5:2 KJV] For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

It's going to take the world by surprise.

[1Th 5:3 KJV] For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

World leaders will be trying to convince the population that everything is hunky dory.

[1Th 5:4 KJV] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

Those who belong to God should not be surprised by "that day."

[1Th 5:5 KJV] Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

Our response to "that day" should be different from the world's.

[1Th 5:6 KJV] Therefore let us not sleep, as [do] others; but let us watch and be sober.

Anticipate His return believers!

[1Th 5:7 KJV] For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

Like in the days of Noah.  They were living life with no concerns when the first raindrops started to fall.

[1Th 5:8 KJV] But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

On that day, we are going to need our armor!

[1Th 5:9 KJV] For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

We need not fear because our salvation will be completed on that day.

[1Th 5:10 KJV] Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

The joy that will be ours on that day!

[1Th 5:23 KJV] And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Strive to be more like Him each and every day until He returns to gather us.

[1Th 5:24 KJV] Faithful [is] he that calleth you, who also will do [it].

We don't have to do this in our own strength, He is going to help us to remain faithful.
