Word Study Wednesday

Today we are looking at the word "beloved" in Mark and each instance describes God's only begotten son, Jesus:

[Mar 1:11 ESV] 11 And a voice came from heaven, "You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased."

At His baptism, performed by John the Baptist, God the Father spoke these words over His Son.

[Mar 9:7 ESV] 7 And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, "This is my beloved Son; listen to him."

At the Transfiguration, Jesus spoke with Moses and Elijah, and God told his disciples to listen to His beloved Son.

[Mar 12:6 ESV] 6 He had still one other, a beloved son. Finally he sent him to them, saying, 'They will respect my son.'

Lastly, in a parable.  A man owned a vineyard that he leased to tenants.  When he sent his agents to collect his share, the tenants resisted the man's rights.  He finally sent his beloved son, thinking the tenants couldn't refuse his son who represented him.  The tenants killed his beloved son.  Sounds familiar, does it not?
