Thinking Thursday

[Rev 16:15-21 ESV] 15 ("Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!") 

Jesus will come like a thief to those who do not acknowledge Him.  To those watching for Him, they will be blessed and will be prepared.

16 And they assembled them at the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.

The "they" is the demonic spirits from verse 14.  The "them" is the kings of the world. 

17 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, "It is done!"

So reminiscent of what Jesus said on the cross.  It is a done deal, the outcome is already assured.

18 And there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a great earthquake such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake. 19 The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God remembered Babylon the great, to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath. 20 And every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found. 21 And great hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, fell from heaven on people; and they cursed God for the plague of the hail, because the plague was so severe.

The cosmic power of God will be on display.  Think of the most spectacular lightning you have ever seen.  Now multiply that 1000x.  Think of the loudest thunder you have ever heard.  Now multiply that 1000x.  Think of earthquakes that have toppled cities and imagine an earthquake that remakes the entire world.  All the false religions that taught lies about God will now drink the cup of his wrath because He is just to exact His vengenance.  No more islands...no Hawaii, no Australia, etc.  No Rocky Mountains, no Mt. Everest.  And forget golf ball size hail which is devastating, this will be person sized hail!  Yet, the people remaining will curse God instead of recognizing His power and giving Him the glory He is due from His creation.
