Word Study Wednesday

[2Co 11:13, 26 ESV] 13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. ... 26 on frequent journeys, in danger from rivers, danger from robbers, danger from my own people, danger from Gentiles, danger in the city, danger in the wilderness, danger at sea, danger from false brothers;

[Gal 2:4 ESV] 4 Yet because of false brothers secretly brought in--who slipped in to spy out our freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might bring us into slavery--

[2Pe 2:1 ESV] 1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.

[1Jo 4:1 ESV] 1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Today's verses highlight the worst kind of false.  We are not surprised when lost and worldly people are false.  It is a gut punch though when people of faith are false.  False brothers, false prophets and false teachers can do so much damage to faith journeys of believers.  If the words, prophecies or teachings do not line up with Scripture, then leave those false people behind and pay no attention to them again.
