Wisdom Wednesday

[Ecc 4:1-6 KJV] 1 So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of [such as were] oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors [there was] power; but they had no comforter.

We can be thoughtless and unfeeling towards others.  Some in their pursuits, trample others and become oppressors.  Some never even consider others in their actions.  But there is a comforter if you know where to seek.

2 Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive.

Solomon reasons that at least the dead are at peace with no more troubles.  But there is peace available if you know where to seek.

3 Yea, better [is he] than both they, which hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.

Better yet, thinks Solomon, is the one who has never been born.  (He is in a dark train of thought here.)  Life is a gift from God...always.

4 Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This [is] also vanity and vexation of spirit.

Don't keep up with the Joneses.  Do your work for the glory of God, otherwise it is vanity and vexation.

5 The fool foldeth his hands together, and eateth his own flesh.

A fool gives up...don't be a fool.

6 Better [is] an handful [with] quietness, than both the hands full [with] travail and vexation of spirit.

Be content with such things as God has blessed you with.
