In Matthew, Chapter 3 we see his boldness and commitment to the cause of Christ:
- He urged others to repentance
- He lived simply. No fancy clothes or food. Nothing to take his focus off his purpose
- Baptizing others
- Fearless in calling others out on hypocrisy
- Challenge to bear fruit and avoid uselessness
- Acknowledged his lower position in comparison to Christ's exalted position as Son of God
- Rewarded with the privilege of serving Christ by baptizing Him
We too were born with a purpose and it is the same as John the Baptist's purpose. To bring glory to God with our lives and to point others to Him. The details may be different but the end result will be the same...eternity with Him.
