[Phl 3:12-16 KJV] 12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
We will not be perfect here on earth but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't strive to become more like Christ. Every person's journey is their own as we are each His unique creation.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but [this] one thing [I do], forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
Remember the lessons learned but don't dwell there and torment yourself over past mistakes. If you have asked forgiveness, God remembers it no more. Instead look to what's ahead and how you can serve Him better each day.
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
God's standards are high but attainable through Christ and the rewards are so worth it...an eternity with Him.
15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
This is the way of thinking for God's people whose minds are focused on things above. If you aren't quite there yet, don't worry, the Holy Spirit will continue His work to get you there.
16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
Hold on to and call to remembrance all the ways God has been faithful to you in molding you and shaping you.
