Thinking Thursday

[Phl 2:1-4 ESV] 1 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy,

There is encouragement, comfort, participation, affection and sympathy from Jesus.  He experienced coming to earth as man and understands our problems and hardships and struggles.

2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.

Paul wants what many of us want:  unity, caring and everyone following the Lord.

3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

In other words, check your motives.  If you don't care about the people God puts in your path or in your sphere of influence then we aren't becoming more like Christ.

4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Yes, be responsible for yourself but also bear the obligation of wanting and doing what you can for others.  It is a worthy task to do to bring glory to the Savior.
